A Dutch Baby is one of those recipes that looks impressive while being incredibly easy to make. It bakes into a beautifully puffed pancake with crispy golden edges and a soft, custardy center. Made with just a handful of everyday ingredients, it’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dessert. Serve it with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or simply dust it with powdered sugar.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Place an oven-safe skillet or baking dish inside while it heats.
- Beat the eggs until light and fluffy.
- Add the milk, flour, salt, and vanilla paste. Mix until the batter is smooth.
- Carefully remove the hot pan from the oven and add the butter.
- Once melted, brush the butter over the bottom and sides of the pan.
- Pour in the batter immediately and return the pan to the oven.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the pancake is puffed and golden brown.
- Serve immediately with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Tip: The Dutch Baby will deflate shortly after coming out of the oven—this is completely normal and part of its charm.
