A Dutch Baby is one of those recipes that looks impressive while being incredibly easy to make. It bakes into a beautifully puffed pancake with crispy golden edges and a soft, custardy center. Made with just a handful of everyday ingredients, it’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dessert. Serve it with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or simply dust it with powdered sugar.

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Place an oven-safe skillet or baking dish inside while it heats.
  2. Beat the eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the milk, flour, salt, and vanilla paste. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  4. Carefully remove the hot pan from the oven and add the butter.
  5. Once melted, brush the butter over the bottom and sides of the pan.
  6. Pour in the batter immediately and return the pan to the oven.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until the pancake is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Serve immediately with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

Tip: The Dutch Baby will deflate shortly after coming out of the oven—this is completely normal and part of its charm.
